What is this?
Suuntima is a question-based e-service that is used by the customers and professionals of social welfare and health care services together during an appointment or in a hospital. Customers and professionals have their own questions: the customer assesses their own resources, and the professional assesses how challenging the customer’s situation is. The questions concern the customer’s treatment, their rehabilitation or health and well-being risk, their social well-being and their everyday life and how they can cope with it.
Suuntima’s customer relationships are self-service, community, cooperation and network customer relationships. Suuntima suggests different paths for different customer relationships. Suuntima enables the customer and the professional to jointly plan service arrangements, such as means of communication and support for self-care.
Suuntima’s questions help the customer to understand their own situation. For professionals, the answers help them to approach the customer as an individual and in a way that empowers them. Suuntima guides the customer and the professional to select the most suitable path and services for the customer.

Who are involved in the cooperation?
The service is developed in close cooperation between DigiFinland and the regions using the service (South Ostrobothnia, Kanta-Häme, Pirkanmaa, North Savo and the City of Helsinki).
What we do?
We are responsible for the production and maintenance of Suuntima. We support regions and organisations in the deployment of Suuntima. The benefits of Suuntima are achieved by a change in the operations, which means that the development of the organisations’ operating models and processes is a key part of deploying Suuntima. We are responsible for the further development of Suuntima, that is, the implementation of new content and functionalities in accordance with the development plan. Development work will be carried out in active cooperation with the regions using Suuntima.
Where are we currently?
Suuntima’s new version 3.0 is in the preparation and development phase, and it is planned to be published at the end of 2022. At the same time, we will promote version 2.0 deployments according to the revised deployment concept. We will launch and establish the activities of national cooperation groups (steering group and development group).
For the development and national expansion of the Suuntima service, the ownership of and responsibility for the service was transferred from Tays to DigiFinland as of the beginning of 2022.
