What is this?
There are hundreds of old health and social services data systems in Finland, and, in the future, the data contained in these must be archived in the Archive for Old Patient Data. The Archive for Old Patient Data is part of the Kela’s Kanta services and its use can be introduced by health and social services organisations. The safe storage of old data and the possibility to use it in the long term will best be achieved with the use of a centralised archive, which also fulfils the obligations laid down in laws and decrees. The aim of the Electronic archiving project is to increase the utilisation rate of Kela’s old patient data Kanta archive.
Who are involved in the cooperation?
The Electronic archiving project will be carried out in close cooperation with stakeholders such as the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Kela, and the municipalities carrying out archiving.
What we do
The national and coordinating Electronic archiving project will support and guide areas carrying out the archiving of old data in the selection of a high-quality and cost-effective solution for the archiving of old data. The project will produce a concept for the archiving of old data as a continuous service, including after the project has come to an end.
Where are we currently?
The Electronic archiving project began in October – November 2020. The project will be implemented in 2020-2021.
