Digital Health Finland is a network launched by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health that brings together Finnish digital health actors to strengthen international growth and collaboration. The network unites companies, service system organizations, academia, and the public sector to co-develop and promote Finnish digital health solutions for global markets.
Competence areas and objectives
The activities of Digital Health Finland are built around four competence areas:
- Secondary use of health and social care data
- Technology solutions for elderly care
- Use of artificial intelligence in health and social care
- Expert and consulting services related to health and social care digitalization
Through these themes, the network accelerates export opportunities, supports the internationalization of expert work, and creates a foundation for new projects and business models. The central goal is to provide Finnish companies and organizations with new growth channels while bringing digital health solutions to international markets.
The ambition is for Finnish digital health expertise to be presented abroad as strong, integrated solution portfolios instead of isolated products or services. This creates new sales and project opportunities, increases the impact of expertise and research, and accelerates business development.
Network structure and coordination
The activities of Digital Health Finland are guided by a coordination group led by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. The network’s secretariat is managed by DigiFinland Oy and the University of Oulu. Under the leadership of the Ministry, Business Finland and Healthtech Finland also participate in the coordination group. Thematic working groups and a steering group further support the activities by bringing in stakeholder perspectives and strengthening the network’s strategic direction.
Digital Health Finland does not build new organizational structures; instead, it strengthens collaboration between existing actors and networks. This ensures that national expertise and development work are used efficiently, and that Finland acts as a unified and influential developer of digital health solutions.
The network also engages in active international promotion. Digital Health Finland advances Finnish solutions through the Team Finland network as well as through international meetings and collaborative projects. The goal is to ensure that Finnish digital health expertise reaches the right partners and markets, reinforcing Finland’s position as a global player.
