What is this?
The Virta project is part of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health’s Programme for the Implementation of Social Welfare and Health Care Information Management, Guidance and Monitoring (Toivo). The project will implement organisation-independent and nationally consistent information contents that support the social and health service providers’ information management and support the region’s own service production management. The Valtava project between Kela, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare and Valvira will be implemented parallel to Virta.
Who are involved in the cooperation?
DigiFinland, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the welfare areas, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), Valvira and Kela.
What we do
The common goal of DigiFinland and the regions in the scope of the Virta project is to facilitate the management of welfare areas with reliable and up-to-date information. We will support the regions in increasing their capacity for information management, especially in the organisation of health and social services and the related information management.
We will also promote the information content coherence of regional management and national evaluation. In order to ensure the best possible national coherence, the content of the Virta project will be steered with steering mechanisms based on principles and operating models that have previously been agreed to or will be agreed on at the national level.
We play a coordinating role between national actors and the regions. We will disseminate collaborative solutions and regional best practices. We coordinate the knowledge management network for the Virta project, which offers a cooperation forum both between regional actors and between regions and national actors.
Where are we currently?
Assessments on the maturity levels of knowledge management have been carried out in the regions with the aim of evaluating the current state of knowledge management. The information and comments received in the responses to the assessment survey will serve as the basis for creating a development plan for the regions.
The regions have been given a knowledge management development plan template, i.e. a model for drawing up development plans for health and social services knowledge management.
The knowledge management network for the Virta project has been launched and meets at regular intervals.
